When Tracy and Mark got engaged in Florence, they couldn’t think of a better place to get married than the Lake District. After meeting at their local squash club, they became a couple and started visiting the lakes together every year. During a trip to the area in 2014, they came across New House Farm – they’d found their perfect winter wedding venue!
Tracy and Mark decided on a laid back, relaxed wedding with no particular theme. New House Farm can be decorated to the bride and groom’s taste, so they opted for some simple lights draped across the ceiling, which looked really effective in the barn ceremony room. They added a festive touch by having a Christmas tree, as well as a few snow men!
Tracy was helped to get ready by Mark’s daughter Kayleigh – her bridesmaid – who did her hair and make-up. I didn’t spend too long on the bride’s prep shots, as she preferred I captured the guests mingling beforehand. There was a really relaxed atmosphere as the guests enjoyed a drink in the bar, which is exactly what Tracy and Mark wanted for their wedding.
Smiling despite the rain, Tracy made her entrance into the barn looking really elegant in her lace dress. She was given away by her son James, before she and Mark said their vows in a beautiful ceremony.
Whilst the guests returned to the bar to enjoy some more drinks and canapes, I took the couple off to the nearby Lorton valley for some photos. They’d previously told me that they loved this area and had great memories from their holidays there. They couldn’t have looked happier standing next to the lake with the snow topped fells behind them.
Keeping it low-key, Tracy and Mark didn’t have any evening music. However, the guests were happily entertained with sparklers and pick ‘n’ mix while having a great evening drinking, socialising and celebrating.
A simple, beautiful wedding that was a pleasure to be a part of. Congratulations both!
