Rachel and Owen’s Summer wedding at the Inn on the Lake at Glenridding was a lovely, simple gathering of family and close friends. The hotel is right next to the scenic Ullswater lake, so always provides an amazing backdrop for wedding photos.
Low Key Wedding
Rachel looked really beautiful in her short-sleeved lace dress. She did her own hair and make-up, before relaxing with a glass of champagne. The afternoon ceremony took place in the Glenridding Room – great for smaller wedding parties – which looks out onto the lake and garden. The couple’s 11-year-old daughter Anna was Maid-of-Honour, and their son Michael, 13, acted as Owen’s Best Man. Owen really couldn’t stop smiling the moment Rachel entered the room!
The unpredictable British weather didn’t bring us any sunshine that day (even in August), but that never gets in the way of a good photo opportunity! I managed to capture the couple by the lakeshore under some impressive looking black clouds, which reflect off the lake nicely. Plus, the jetty is always perfect for a romantic wedding shot.
Afterwards, guests attended a reception in the rustic Candleroom restaurant. Keeping it low-key, the bride and groom decided to skip the speeches and dancing for a cruise on the lake instead.
Crisps, Not Canapés!
With the cake cut, the wedding party hopped onboard The Lady of the Lake – one of the world-famous Ullswater Steamers. Guests enjoyed champagne, but swapped canapés for more down-to-earth Quavers and Monster Munch! Then it was back to the bar to wind-down with a few drinks.
The couple were joined by some special guests on the day – their two pet Rottweilers, who turned out to be the biggest softies! They were a welcome addition for the kids who loved playing with them.
It was a pleasure to shoot this wedding full of happy, smiling guests and a genuinely loved up couple. Congratulations both!
