Rachel and George chose a Muncaster Castle wedding for their special day.
Muncaster Castle overlooks the River Esk near the west-coastal town of Ravenglass in Cumbria, making it a stunning and dramatic wedding venue. It has beautiful gardens including features designed to take advantage of views of the Esk Valley and the mountains. There is an owl sanctuary, a maze and, apparently, a resident ghost. Luckily, the only supernatural occurence on Rachel and George’s big day was how gorgeous the weather was!
Their ceremony took place in Family Dining Room of the castle, a bright and welcoming wood panelled room with a fireplace and a large bay window overlooking the Castle Front Lawns, perfect for their special day. The room was decorated with flowers from The Flower Basket and string quartet Intermezzo played as the bride entered. She looked stunning! Her hair and make up was beautifully done by her maid of honour.
After the ceremony, everyone headed out to either the castle’s front lawns, Great Hall or Library for champagne and nibbles and group photos before I spirited the bride and groom away for a small, private shoot in the striking Great Hall.
Following this, the wedding breakfast was held in the Formal Dining Room, and guests were treated to a sumptuous sit-down meal and speeches from the groom, Rachel’s brother and the best man.
Once the meal was over, Rachel, George and their guests again headed outside where they watched a fantastic falconry demonstration provided by Muncaster Castle’s Hawk and Owl Centre. I was able to snap some brilliant photos of the birds and the guests, then Rachel, George and I went out into the grounds for another private shoot.
To end the incredible day, bride, groom and guests all retired to the Old Laundry for dancing and a BBQ supper!
Congratulations to Rachel and George on their marriage, and also for creating a fantastic, fun filled and memorable day for both themselves and their guests!
