Laura and Andy chose the majestic Muncaster Castle for their winter lakes wedding. The impressive Muncaster Castle has been in the Pennington family since 1783 and is currently run by Iona Pennington and her husband Peter Frost-Pennington (Peter took the family name). It is said to be one of the most haunted castles in England!
Laura and Andy’s ceremony was held in Muncaster Church, a small church built in 1140, it sits within the grounds of the estate and has some fascinating stained glass windows.
As part of the ceremony Andy’s cousin Jessica sang a really beautiful love song. Then it was a journey through the spectacular gardens, said to be home to one of Europe’s largest collections of Rhododendrons, to the castle and the reception that was held in the Great Hall. During the drinks reception elegant music was provided by string quartet ‘Classic Ensemble’. Then it was onto the wedding breakfast. After the usual speeches there was an additional surprise speech provided by Andy’s nephews’ page boys Callum, aged 7 and William, aged 5.
This wasn’t the only surprise Callum and William had for Laura, Andy and their guests. After the couple’s first dance they instigated a second dance to PSy’s ‘Gangnam style’, complete with obligatory dance moves!
Evening entertainment was provided by the award winning ‘The Purple Supper Band’ who were recently voted Bride magazines best wedding band in the North-East area. They comfortably lived up to the hype and had everybody dancing well into the night.
An elegant yet fun wedding, a breath taking venue and all set within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Congratulations to Laura and Andy for getting married and creating such a memorable day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.
