Shona and Richard chose the stunning Low Wood Bay Hotel to host their wedding reception.
The couple first met when Richard, a Royal Navy Marine, went on a night out with Shona’s brother, also a Marine. It was love at first sight.
I shot ‘getting’ ready shots of both bride and groom and so was present when each of them received their surprise gifts from each other. Shona (a massive ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ fan) received a bracelet from Tiffany’s, whilst Richard (a climbing enthusiast) received a GoPro and two signed photos from his hero, Kenton Cool (yes that is his real name!). They were both extremely pleased with their gifts and the thoughtfulness behind them.
The ceremony took place at St. Oswald’s Church in Grasmere and was overseen by Vicar Cameron. The bride looking beautiful with her hair styled by Heather and Rachel of Oxley’s Spa and her make up done by the Low Wood Bay Spa. Richard wore his formal dress blues and looked every inch the perfect groom.
Between the ceremony and reception I was able to grab Shona and Richard for a private shoot against the fells. The Lake District never ceases to amaze me, it’s such an incredible and versatile landscape to work with and I feel I was able to really do the couple justice with their pictures against the fells.
The wedding guests in the meantime had moved to the Low Wood Bay Hotel for drinks and nibbles. As the bride and groom re-joined the party, everyone made way to the dining room for the wedding breakfast and speeches.
After this, guests were surprised with a boat trip provided by Windermere Lake Cruises, everyone was treated to drinks above and below decks and a tour of the beautiful Lake Windermere.
Returning to the hotel, the reception room was set up in full party mode, with disco lighting and even a piñata for the kids! ABBA tribute band Swede Dreamz were fantastic and everyone danced the night away!
Congratulations to Shona and Richard on their marriage and also, for creating a fantastically memorable day for their family and friends!
