LANGDALE CHASE | WEDDING story of Ruth & Martin

How did you both meet?

We met on a blind date instigated by our mutual ironing lady, Karen, who thought that we were well matched! Smart lady that Karen!

Tell us about the proposal

There was no surprise proposal….it was just a feeling that it was the right thing for the both of us although the official engagement day took place at Northcote Manor, Langho.

Why a lake district wedding?

I have always loved the Lake District and do visit on a regular basis both for business and pleasure. Difficult to find a more beautiful spot not quite on my doorstep but it didn’t stop people travelling from all ends of the country and the bits in-between.

Tell us about your wedding venue and why you chose the langdale chase?

We visited Langdale Chase one Sunday when looking for lunch and thought it was such a beautiful spot….what a great place for a wedding! What was the colour scheme or wedding theme The theme was vintage. Lots of roses in soft colours, bird cages, more roses… Very pretty!

Tell us about your dress

A beautiful Ian Stuart creation…..silk and lace. Too nice never to be worn again. Did you have ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?’ Yes, had them all….old coin, new shoes, beautiful borrowed purse, blue bow on inside of dress.

Which was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?

So many good ones and very difficult to pick one out but I do love one of Sydnee (my goddaughter) touching up my lipstick outside the hotel, Dad looking over the balcony waiting for me to come out of the bedroom, Martin and the guys getting ready and the shots of Martin and myself in the Langdales. Told you I couldn’t pick one!

What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?

Inspiration came from products that I sell, magazines, Yvonne (wedding planner) from Windemere, Hedgerow Florist girls from Grassington and Claire from Sheffield who was spot on with the stationery. It was always evolving and came together in the end !!

Do you have any advice for future brides?

It’s your wedding……plan to please yourselves….hey, I’m no expert!

What was the best part of your wedding day?

Having all our friends and family around us having such a great time…..superb memories and wish we could do it all again!,

Was Steve from Derwent Photography the right wedding photographer for you?

If I could do it all again then I would have Steve taking the pics…..thanks Steve, can’t wait to see the album!! Xx
