Bethan & Stewart tell us about the background to their Lingholm Estate wedding in their own words.
We knew each other from secondary school, we were in the same class from age 11.
Stew proposed in the same hotel where we had stayed on our first trip away together in Newcastle – Bethan was completely shocked, but eventually said yes!
We both grew up in the Lake District area and couldn’t think of a more suitable place – given the wonderful scenery. We have a rule in our relationship that if we both like something – we go for it, so when we both saw Lingholm Estate and met Jenny and her team we knew that was the place for us – the lake views were a bonus!
The colour scheme was Ivory, Navy and Silver. We went for the classic look.
Bethan’s dress was by Pronovias. She loved the classic style and the big train (although it made dancing problematic later in the evening!)
Yes – Bethan tied her granny’s engagement ring into her bouquet which was her something old. Her dress was the something new. She wore her mum’s pearl bracelet as the something borrowed and the something blue was her wedding ring – which has sapphires inset into it.
One of us in the meadow, it’s taken just as we were having a chat and laughing about something. It’s so natural.
The internet generally, but we had also been to a number of friends weddings so we had an idea of what we did and didn’t want/like from those experiences.
All our suppliers were incredible, but our caterers – Fell & Dales Catering – were amazing. The food was excellent, and Hilary and her team were so helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process. Their previous relationship with Lingholm Estate also helped as we knew there would be no teething issues between them on the day.
Don’t be afraid to delegate. We knew that planning a wedding was not something we ever wanted to do and we were not going to enjoy the process. We delegated a lot of things to family and they all did an amazing job. We can honestly say there is nothing we would change or do differently about our wedding day.
We had an incredible day – all of it, but the best part for us was once we’d completed the bride & groom duties for the day and could just enjoy the evening chatting and dancing with our friends and family.
100% YES! Steve was exactly what we had wanted/hoped for as a photographer. We do not like staged photographs and prefer a more observational style. Steve was fantastic. He captured all those moments that we did not see and his pictures tell the story of our wedding day so that we can relive it again and again.
