old england hotel wedding

Katie and Fraser chose St Matthew’s Church in the hamlet of Dendron & The Olde England Hotel, Bowness for their Lake District wedding.

St Matthew’s is a handsome church, rich in history. Though Katie and Fraser chose it for more personal reasons as it is where Katie’s parents were married and Katie’s late grandmother is buried in the church’s graveyard. So it really was the perfect place for Katie and Fraser to get married.
After the ceremony Katie, Fraser and I slipped away to take some shots on the beach. It was well worth the detour as I was able to take some great shots. Though the weather meant that we really did have to battle with the wind. Then it was onto a warm welcome at the Macdonald Old England Hotel and Spa in Bowness for the wedding reception.
Set on the shores of Lake Windermere, the four star Macdonald Old England Inn & Spa hotel offers breath-taking scenery with unrivalled views of the lake from their exquisitely landscaped gardens. This, coupled with the luxurious interior of the hotel (not to mention the spa!) made the Old England Inn a truly magical setting for Katie and Frasers’ wedding celebration.
The wedding was run by toast master, the very capable, Mr Richard Matthews. Who saw to it that Katie, Fraser and their guests were perfectly catered for and entertained. In the evening the baton was passed over to resident DJ Pindrop Entertainments who ensured that everybody was dancing well into the evening.
A very personal church ceremony, an elegant and friendly reception set on the shores of Lake Windermere and then partying well into the night. Congratulations to Katie and Fraser for getting married and creating such a memorable day.
