Gemma and Steve decided on a Broadoaks Hotel wedding.

Set in the idyllic village of Troutbeck, Windermere, with 7 acres of grounds and a nearby babbling brook, Broadoaks Hotel provided the perfect venue for a unique and very personal wedding.

The wedding ceremony was overseen by registrars Helen and Chris in the intimate William Morris Music Room of the hotel. It was one of Chris’s first weddings! Flowers were provided by Brackens of Bowness and the bride looked stunning, with her make-up done by Polly Winder. The bride’s niece Yasmin did a fantastic job of preparing Gemma’s hair, whilst waiting for Heather the hairdresser whose car had distaserously suffered a blowout in Coniston. She was eventually delivered by two complete strangers! Despite all of the usual disasters that come hand in hand with wedding days, everything came together at the last minute and the day was perfect. Even the couples 5 month old twins, Mia and Holly, enjoyed themselves!

After the ceremony came a surprise from friend Lizzie (who owns an ice cream parlour), who had created a 5 tier, multi flavoured ice cream cake for the bride and groom to cut. The party then moved on to the restaurant where guests sat down to a delicious buffet style wedding breakfast, followed by speeches from father of the bride Jim, the groom and best man Andy. Guests were even treated to an impromptu speech by proud mother of the groom, Barbara! The reception was entertained by ceilidh band Macaroon and everybody danced the night away. The brave bride and her bridesmaids even took a break from the revelry to do a last minute photo shoot in the fading light, tramping over field and beck in heels!

Congratulations to Gemma and Steve on their wedding and creating such a memorable day for their guests and, of course, themselves!
