WORDSWORTH HOTEL | WEDDING story of Hayley & Mark
How did you both meet?
We met on a night out, we were introduced by friends in a club, both very drunk at the time!
Tell us about the proposal?
The proposal was very simple, Mark cooked a meal at home, and asked me to get dessert out of the cupboard, the ring was on top of the dessert box and when I turned round he had a massive grin on his face!.
Where did your wedding take place and what made you choose Grasmere?
Our wedding was at the Wordsworth Hotel in Grasmere, we chose it because we love the area, and try to get over to the lakes walking as many weekends as we can. Grasmere especially has a special place in our hearts.
What was your colour scheme or wedding theme?
The colour scheme for the wedding was ‘rainbow’, I hadn’t intended it to be that way, it started out as Cadburys purple, but we ended up with a mix of warm reds, oranges, yellows and pinks.
Tell us about your dress?
My dress was heavy silk, strapless with a long train, and beading across the chest with an A line skirt, ivory in colour.
Did you have ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?’
My something new were earrings, a gift from Mark, something blue was a garter, and I didn’t have anything old or borrowed.
What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?
Our favourite photograph so far is the one of Mark and I laughing at the top table, although I’ve got no idea what we’re laughing about, it sums up our relationship exactly, and I love the black and white.
What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?
The most useful source of wedding ideas and information were magazines, in particular a local North East magazine I found in a bridal shop, unfortunately I can’t remember what it’s called.
Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.
It’s not a supplier as such but the people who gave the best service by far was the Wordsworth Hotel. They were fantastic, every detail was sorted without fuss, the service on the day was excellent, and Catalin the manager made sure everything ran smoothly. It was in a large part due to him and his staff that everyone had such a great day.
Do you have any advice for future brides?
My advice for a future bride would be not to worry about anything on the day, you have your bridesmaids and your mother for that!! I was completely relaxed, in fact the hotel staff couldn’t believe how calm I was, and as a result I was able to remember as much as possible about a day that goes by very quickly!!
What was the best part of your wedding day?
The best part of the day was the ceremony, it was lovely to stand in front of everyone we know and say our vows, although it was quite emotional.
Was Derwent Photography the right photographer for you?
Derwent photography was the right photographer for us, Steve was very discreet, I almost forgot he was there at times until I realised he’d sneaked up on me for a photo opportunity! The shots are fantastic, I’m really pleased with the naturalness of them and the way I can see peoples personalities in the photos. I would definitely recommend him for a wedding or any occasion.
