ST OSWALDS CHURCH & FARM MARQUEE | WEDDING story of Hannah & Mike
How did you both meet?
We meet through mutual friends 5 years ago and also knew each other through work.
Tell us about the proposal
The initial proposal was in the evening at our friends wedding in March 2012 at Hunday Manor Workington. Mike official proposed one evening after he had picked up the ring at our house.
Why a lake district wedding?
We live here, we work here and it’s HOME 🙂
Tell us about your wedding venue and why you chose that location?
We chose St Oswalds Dean as the church we wanted to get married in as it is a traditional church that holds all of its characters. Hannah went to the local school and spent days in the Church so it was also close to her. We chose my parents farm at Eaglesfield as the location of the wedding receptions as it was a life long dreams of hers to get married at home where she grew up. The field where the marque was set has stunning views over the fells towards Keswick. The mature & catering were done by Bakerwood Marques from Brampton
What was the colour scheme or wedding theme
The colour scheme of the wedding was pastel shades ranging from pinks to blues. We concentrated on shades of the colour green as it’s Mikes favourite colours. The flowers we done by Steph Marrs of Bespoke by Steph
Tell us about your dress
My dress was maggie sottero bliss royale wedding dress in a ivory satin. It had a large amount of detail on the chest that I loved as it sparkled. There was a little brooch detail on the base of the dress that match the crystals and beads on the chest. I wore a cathedral veil with jewels a on it to accent the embellishment on the dress.
Did you have ‘something old, somthing new, something borrowed, something blue?’
I did indeed, no wedding is complete with out it, something old was a 1960 brooch in my bouquet, the something new was the jell every I wore on the day (kindly bought for me by Mike), something borrowed was a lizard brooch also in my bouquet it’s belongs to my mum. And finally the something blue was a small bow on my garta.
Which was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?
My favourite photograph is the one of me just after I have ‘fallen’ of my chair during Mikes speech. Everyone in the picture (and the marque is laughing), and everyone looks so happy. It was a typical Hannah moment as I am always the one to fall over or down and it’s always mike who picks me up.
What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?
My friends that had got married in the previous years and also walking round interior design shops.
Do you have any advice for future brides?
Make it what you want it to be, it is yours and your future husbands big day.
What was the best part of your wedding day?
Walking into the church down the aisle when me and mike first saw each other! There are so many to choose from it was a fantastic day
Was steve from Derwent Photography the right wedding photographer for you?
COMPLETELY, the photos have captured the day in the way and light that both me and Mike wanted. You can tell the wedding day story from them.
