PENRUDDOCK CHURCH & MARQUEE | WEDDING story of Liz & Greg

How did you both meet?

WE MET AT LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY AS WE WERE IN THE SAME HALLS OF RESIDENCE IN SEPTEMBER 2002.

Tell us about the proposal?

HAHA! IT WAS A TUESDAY NIGHT AND WE WERE BOTH HOME FROM WORK. LIZ WAS CLEARING UP FROM DINNER IN THE KITCHEN AND BEING HER OCD SELF AND CLEARING UP EVERY LITTLE THING. GREG HAD EMPTIED HIS SUIT POCKETS EARLIER ON THE KICHEN SIDE, SO LIZ WAS PICKING UP ALL THE CONTENTS OF HIS OF HIS POCKETS TO TIDY AWAY. THEN LIZ FOUND A RECIEPT FOR A RING!! AND RAN THROUGH TO THE LOUNGE ALL BUZZING AND EXCITED AND TOLD GREG SHE HAD SEEN IT! NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WAS OBVIOUS OF THE INTENTIONS, SO ON THE NEXT FREE NIGHT WE BOTH HAD, HE OFFICIALLY PROPOSED IN THE CHAMPAGNE BAR OF TOWER 42 IN THE CITY, THEN WENT FOR DINNER TO GAUCHO GRILL FOR STEAK AND CHAMPAGNE!

Where did your wedding take place and what made you choose that location?

THE CHURCH SERVICE WAS IN ALL SAINTS CHURCH IN PENRUDDOCK AND THE MARQUEE RECEPTION WAS ONLY HALF A MILE AWAY IN THE FIELD BEHIND LIZ’S PARENTS HOUSE IN MOTHERBY. WE CHOSE THE VENUE OF THE FIELD BECAUSE WE COULD CREATE EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED IN THE FIELD WHERE LIZ HAD GROWN UP ALONGSIDE AND SPENT SO MUCH TIME PLAYING AS A CHILD. IT ALSO HAD FANTASTIC VIEWS OF THE PENNINES.

What was your colour scheme or wedding theme?

NEUTRALS. BRIDESMAIDS WERE IN IVORY DRESSES, FLOWERS WERE CREAMS AND WHITES ALONG WITH GREEN FOLIAGE. THE CAKE AND THE FAVOURS WERE IN WHAT I LIKE TO CALL THE “MOLTON BROWN” COLOUR.

Tell us about your dress?

I FOUND “THE” DRESS IN THE PHILIPPA LEPLEY BOUTIQUE ON FULHAM ROAD. UNFORTUNATLEY IT HAD A PRICE TAG OF £12,800 TO GO WITH IT. SO INSTEAD WE FOUND AN AMAZING DRESSMAKER WHO MADE SOMETHING VERY SIMILAR. THE DRESS WAS SLINKLY, BUT ALSO HAD A TRAIN. IT WAS ADORNED WITH HUNDREDS OF CRYSTALS AND PEARL BEADS, AND HAD BEAUTIFUL SHEER STRAPS.

Did you have ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?’

YES!

What was your favourite photograph (so far) and why did you like it?

FROM THE PROFESSIONAL ONES WE HAVE SEEN SO FAR, OUR FAVOURITE WAS THE ONE IN THE CHURCH WHERE WE ARE BOTH LAUGHING BECAUSE IT JUST SUMS UP OUR DAY WHICH WAS FULL OF LAUGHTER AND SMILES.

What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?

MUM! AKA YVONNE BODECOTT! BEST WEDDING ADVISOR/PLANNER EVER!

Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.

BAKERWOOD! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! THEY MADE OUR DAY! THE MARQUEE WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD, ALONG WITH THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE. COULDN’T RECCOMMEND THEM HIGHLY ENOUGH!

Do you have any advice for future brides?

LOTS! TRY NOT TO WORRY AB0UT ANYTHING BECAUSE WITHOUT A DOUBT IT WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIVES EVEN IF THINGS DON’T GO TO PLAN.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

WE WENT THROUGH THIS ON OUR HONEYMOON, AND CAME UP WITH A TOP 5:

THE WALKING DOWN THE AISLE AND SEEING EACH OTHER

ARRIVING AT THE MARQUEE BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE AND SOAKING UP THE AMAZING VENUE

AFTER SOME PHOTOS OUT OF THE MRQUEE, WALKING BACK INTO THE MARQUEE AND BEING SHOWERED IN CONFETTI, THEN EVERYONE LAUGHING WHILST GREG PULLED LIZ’S WELLIES OFF.

THE SPEECHES

THE DANCING WHEN BOTH OF US WERE ON THE SHOULDERS OF OUR FRIENDS.

Was Steve at Derwent Photography the right photographer for you?

YES, DEFINITELY! INTERESTING AND BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS, NOT YOUR AVERAGE BORING SHOTS!
