When Barry proposed to Heather, she said yes and they promptly hopped on a plane and went travelling for 8 months! The couple decided to get married at the beautiful Loweswater Church, which dates back to 1884. Heather looked gorgeous in her dress by Stephanie Allin and her hair and makeup by Katie Dale. She was taken to the church in her dad’s Land Rover Defender, which was decked out in ribbons. She certainly made an entrance!

Following the ceremony the newlyweds were driven to the location for their private shoot in a vintage Riley, owned by a friend of the family in the village. They then followed on to their marquee reception at New House Farm. There they greeted their guests, had drinks and nibbles and listened to the afternoon’s entertainment provided by the Lakes Quartet. Heather’s family are very musical, her father played the clarinet with the classical four-piece and her mother sang with the choir at the church! The marquee and catering were provided by the fantastic Bakerwood Marquees, they did a ‘haggis, neeps and tatties in a whiskey sauce’ canape that I particularly enjoyed! The sweet potato and lime soup was also a hot favourite.

After the drinks reception everybody headed over to the barn of New House Farm for the meal and speeches. Dinner was again catered for by Bakerwood overseen by the wonderful Sarah. One guest from each table was given a chef’s hat and had to carve the pork haunch for the main course! It was a fantastic touch. The barn itself was decorated with flowers by The Floral Boutique and images of the couple on their many travels, the tables were even names after places they had been together (including Everest!)

Once the meal was over I took the bride and groom to the lake shore for another wee shoot before returning them to their party. Heather’s mother made the cake as a surprise and it was unveiled at the cake cutting ceremony… both Heather and Barry were delighted! The evening’s entertainment, Reel Time band The Scraggly Cats arrived to accompany the celebrations well into the night.

Congratulations to Heather and Barry on their marriage and creating an unforgettable day for their friends and family!
