Hayley and Alex met through friends 12 years ago and the rest, as they say, is history!

Alex proposed on a day trip to the medieval clifftop village of Eze whilst the couple were holidaying in France. He proposed in French and had to ask twice as Hayley was so shocked that, despite being able to speak a little French, she forgot it and couldn’t understand him!

They decide on a Lake District wedding as the area is particularly close to their hearts, they even talk about moving up here one day! They visit Keswick every year and it is their favourite place in the Lakes. They chose to have a Lodore Falls wedding as it allowed them to be close to Keswick and has views over their favourite walk, Catbells. As a bonus, the hotel itself is stunning and the staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming!

The ‘shabby-chic plus sheep’ themed wedding took place on a beautiful day in early September. The ceremony itself took place in the beautiful in the Beech Room of the hotel, an intimate, naturally lit room, with large windows looking out to the gardens. Flowers arranged by Emma’s Flowers decorated the room, bringing the outside in and symbolising the couple’s love of nature and the Lake District. In a dress by Nicola Anne, a designer based in Leicestershire, the bride entered looking happy and radiant. Alex’s face was a picture!

Following the ceremony the newlyweds and their guests were treated to drinks and nibbles and a pet of Socks, the sheep hired for the occasion. This was followed by the speeches and a sit down meal wonderfully catered for by the hotel’s superb restaurant.

After the meal I snuck the bride and groom off for a photoshoot at the nearby Surprise View, a stunning location that really lives up to its name, no one expects a view so spectacular to suddenly appear! Considering Hayley and Alex are both a bit camera shy I was able to take some gorgeous, natural pictures of the happy couple against the magnificent backdrop. They were very laidback and easy to work with.

Once the couple had re-joined their guests everyone headed down to the lakeside where 2 boats had been hired to take everyone out on a tour of the lake. With plenty of champagne and prosecco at their disposal the party started!

Upon the boats return the bride and groom lead their guests back to the warmth of the hotel to cut the cake, a fabulous creation made by Judi Bakes in Maryport, and to continue the fiesta, with the evening’s entertainment provided by James Entertainments. It was a fantastic, fun way to end the day!

Congratulations to Hayley and Alex on their wedding, and on creating a memorable, fun-filled day for their nearest and dearest.
