LANGDALE HOTEL | WEDDING story of Helen & Steve

How did you both meet?

We met in Kiki’s night club in Sheffield on Christmas Eve many many years ago

Tell us about the proposal?

Steven proposed while we were staying in Polly’s Cottage in Elterwater, Lake District on the 11th October 2009. I had no idea that he was planning to propose so it was a real shock, but it was a very special moment. I never thought that we would get married and I could not believe he had managed to keep it a secret from me. He had chosen a beautiful diamond ring that I love. He had also planned for us to go for a meal in the Langdale Country Hotel that evening with some Friends that was on holiday with us.

Where did your wedding take place and what made you choose that location?

We had our Wedding and ceremony at the Langdale Country Hotel. We chose this venue and location as it is a very special place for us one because we got engaged in this area and had a meal there on the night we got engaged and two because it is a beautiful part of the country that we visit regularly.

What was your colour scheme or wedding theme? The colour scheme was Blue and Silver

Tell us about your dress?

I bought my dress from Emily Bridal in Sheffield it was made by Blue by Enzoani – It was an ivory Tule dress with a diamante and pearl band above the waste. It was just perfect.

Did you have ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?’

Yes I had them all, something old was my late Nannans engagement ring. Something new was my dress, something borrowed was my Nannans locket with a picture of her and my Grandad inside. And something blue was a bow on my garter.

What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?

I love all the photos! My favourite one is where we are on top of the hill and my dress is floating up with the wind.

What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?

I bought wedding magazines every month, subscribed to ‘I do Weddings’ received weekly emails letting me know where Wedding fares were being held and wedding suppliers that had offers on.

Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.

The staff in Purdy’s restaurant (Langdale Country Club) where our Wedding breakfast was held. The service they provided to us all day was outstanding.

Do you have any advice for future brides?

If you have a big dress like I did when you need to visit the toilet sit facing frontwards. (great tip from your very good self Steve. Thank you)

What was the best part of your wedding day?

All of it, we wouldn’t change it for the world we had all our close friends and family there to celebrate the day with us. It was just Fantastic and a very memorable day.

Was Steve at Derwent Photography the right photographer for you?

Yes you were fantastic everyone commented on how good you were on the day you made everyone feel relaxed even at the last minute when myself and the bridesmaid were running round getting ready.
