LANGDALE HOTEL | WEDDING story of Amanda & John
How did you both meet?
Through work, we knew each other for about 10 years before we started dating.Amanda & Mark
Tell us about the proposal?
We were on holiday in Ireland last year, John proposed on the cliffs of Moher on the West Coast of Ireland, it was about a 9.30pm and we were stood at the top of the cliffs watching a beautiful sunset.
Where did your wedding take place and what made you choose that location?
Our wedding could only be in one place, the Langdale Hotel, John and I went there for our first weekend away and fell totally in love with the hotel and setting, we never looked at any other venue as we already knew have perfect it was going to be and it was.
What was your colour scheme or wedding theme?
Our colour theme was sage green to blend into the surrounding fells and colour scheme of the hotel
Tell us about your dress?
My dress was designed by Ritva Westenius, the name was Marion, I chose this dress as this was the name of John’s late mother who passed away last year. My dress was beautiful.
Did you have ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?’
Only just in time, I didn’t but them my sister sorted me out just before I left the room, she was most instant.
What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it
They all look amazing, we choose Steve because of his shoots on the Langdale wedding site, as with the venue we did not look at anybody else as we knew he would be perfect. John and I are rather shy so we loved the fact the Steve would take us to the Fells for our pictures, my favourites so far are of my beautiful friend Carol and my brother in law Simon and my gorgeous niece. John’s are of the two of us on top of the fells
What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?
We wanted to make the wedding very personal so we did most things ourselves. I suppose the most useful source was the Langdale Hotel website as this is how we found Steve. We also found the Langdale website very useful for local providers
Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.
Sarah at the Hotel was first class and we can’t thank her enough
Do you have any advice for future brides?
Enjoy everything from the planning the day and honeymoon. Most people said our day would pass so fast but it didn’t we had a very relaxed perfect day
What was the best part of your wedding day?
One of the highlights of our day was a private cruise on the National Trust Steam Yacht Gondola in the evening on Lake Coniston; we had hoped for a rain free calm evening as this is what we got. The lake was beautiful, our guests and us loved it. It rounded off our perfect day.
Was Steve at Derwent Photography the right photographer for you?
Absolutely, we highly recommend Steve, he was brilliant, put us both at ease and to our amazement memorised the whole wedding parties name without notes, the wedding party all commented how professional and lovely Steve was.
