LANGDALE CHASE | WEDDING story of Michelle & Jonathan
How did you both meet?
At work. Jon charmed me over the baffle boards!!!
Tell us about the proposal?
No real proposal. After 2 children and 7 years together we just decided it was time we were married.
Where did your wedding take place and what made you choose that location?
The Langdale Chase in the Lake District. I saw it featured on Christmas at the Lakes in December 2011 and thought it looked gorgeous but didn’t think any more of it until my mum told me that my brother (who we were due to visit in January at his new flat) lived quite close to the Lake District. So we popped in for a visit on our way down and there was a wedding on that day and we were sold!
What was your colour scheme or wedding theme?
A vintage/festive/Scottish theme!
Tell us about your dress?
I had narrowed it down to two very traditional looking dresses but I couldn’t choose between them so in despair went to look at some more ‘just in case’ and as soon as I tried it on I knew it was the one and it set the theme for the whole wedding. i.e vintage. I loved it because it wasn’t white or ivory!
Did you have ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?
No – in the run up I totally forgot about all that.
What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?
I really like the informal pictures. Steve managed a great shot of my Dad adjusting his tie in the mirror with me in the background just before the ceremony – we didn’t even know he was taking a picture but he has captured the moment perfectly. I’m in my finery and my dads checking himself out!!
What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?
A bit of everything. Other brides and the internet and magazines.
Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.
Brackens of Bowness were brilliant. No hidden costs and Kevin was very professional and very helpful indeed – no fuss. Ambience in Bowness were also good. Jo Coole also did a phenomenal job of my hair and make up – I was very specific on what I did and didn’t want and she came up trumps.
Do you have any advice for future brides?
Plan well in advance – get people you trust to help you if they can and get their opinion. Remember the day is all about you and the groom. And relax and try and enjoy it!!
What was the best part of your wedding day?
Immediately after we were married getting to mingle with the guests was really nice. We hadn’t seen a lot of the guests as not all of them were staying at the hotel the night before. It was great to finally get everyone together. And saying our vows of course!!
Was Steve of Derwent Photography the right photographer for you?
Steve at Derwent Photography was great, he did a brilliant job – especially keeping 3 young children amused!! Very friendly and informal and the results speak for themselves
