LANGDALE CHASE | WEDDING of Hannah & Chris

How did you both meet?

We met through friends. One of my best friends from school Julia, started going out with (and is now married to) a guy who Hannah grew up with. Han had moved to Brighton and was back up north for Julia’s birthday and that’s where we met.

Tell us about the proposal?

I bought the ring about 8 moths before I proposed. We went down to seaside one weekend at the end of summer. We spent the day on the fairground and playing the arcade machines. Then just before we were about to leave I persuaded Han to go on the carousal. Han actually wanted to spend the rest of our tokens on the fast rides but that would have made things a bit more tricky. I took the ring out my pocket as we were going round on the horses and asked her.

Why a lake district wedding?

We live in London now but both grew up in the north and spent a lot of time in the Lakes as kids and we still go there at least once a year so its a pretty magic place for us.

Tell us you chose the langdale chase for your wedding venue?

Every November we stay in Langdale so we knew of Langdale Chase. Before we were engaged Han’s Gran had often joked that we’d get married there so when we came to look for a place to Wed we saw it and it was perfect and we couldn’t resist the view of the lake

What was your colour scheme or wedding theme?

Our scheme was green. Ours was a winter wedding but Han though that green felt really cosy and wintery but also bright and springy all at the same time. Everything was pretty nostalgic – our favours were books that we’d read as children the suits were both very old fashioned and so was the dress.

Tell us about your dress?

It was 1920s style dress with an open back and plunging neckline.

I didn’t know what I wanted, but I saw my dress on a website magazine that my friend sent me and I loved it. I went to try it on and it was perfect, it was the first dress I tried and I tried some more on just to make sure, but I knew it was the one because it fitted by shape well and showed my tattoos.

Did you have ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?’

We both did. Chris’s sisters put together a box for us both to open on our wedding morning.

What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?

It’s too hard to pick one! We both like the ones of the first dance the best because we’re together and we can see loads of our friends and family. But we really do love all our photos. They really do capture what the day was to us.

What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?

We didn’t really have one, we had a few ideas ourselves and it all kind of stemmed from there. I guess it all with input from friends and family.

Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.

We really can’t fault any of our suppliers, they were all fantastic and instrumental in making our day just as we wanted it.The list is long!

Florist: Petal and Twig – http://www.petalandtwig.co.uk/ Angela, is really really ace. She went to so much effort to get our flowers just right and really understood what we wanted to achieve with them.

Hair and make up: Michelle Sisson – http://www.michellesisson.com/ Michelle made everyone feel so comfortable when we were getting ready, and even though we were running behind schedule everything felt calm and relaxed. She really understood what i wanted even though i didn’t know to begin with!

Band: Juke Box Jets – Super super nice lads! They went to so much effort to really make it a party and had everyone dancing. They were ace.

Do you have any advice for future brides?

Make sure you have nothing to do on the morning of the wedding, use your family and bridesmaids to do all the final little things so you can just relax and get ready.

Remember that all your suppliers do this all the time and so let them just do their thing, that’s what you are paying them for and they really know whats going on, even if at times you might not!

Make sure you stop and take stock and remember to spend some time with the groom! It’s easy to get so caught up in everything and forget to stop and take everything in.

Enjoy all of it, the planning the tasting, talking to suppliers, writing favours. It’s part of it and it all goes so fast.

Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

All of it was just perfect.

Was Steve from Derwent Photography the right wedding photographer for you?

Perfect, just what we wanted. We are both really uncomfortable having our photo taken so reportage was definitely the way for us. We and the guests hardly noticed Steve was there and that is so evident in the way the photos capture all the great moments of the day. We love all of the photos and can’t stop looking at them, it’s like reliving the day over and over.
