We met via the internet
We went to Dublin to see Westlife in their final concert. We were walking around some lovely gardens before the concert and Andrew got down on one knee and proposed. I was 35 weeks pregnant with Eve and thought he was having some sort of episode!
Andrews family live in Whitehaven and I am from Glasson Dock so we wanted somewhere in between. Sailing/boats and water is something very close to both of us and therefore we chose the Low Wood because of the Lake front. I also hoped for snow on the hills in the back ground.
I wanted some very scenic pictures and the Low Wood was the only venue that we viewed that gave us this. We also wanted some where timeless, classic and modern as well.
The colour theme was Gold, Cream and Brown. When I met Andrew, all he wore was cream coloured tops. As my father is no longer here, he was a captain in the Royal Navy and the Merchant Navy so named all of the tables after the boats that he had captained. Andrew spent hours on the internet and managed to find pictures of all of the ships too so this was a nice touch. Although, my dad wasn’t there, he was.
I got my dress from Butterfly Bridal in Lancaster. I had been looking for something plain and simple with no fuss however, Becca in the shop asked me to try on a ‘wild card’ and I feel in love with it immediately. I picked a full length veil with diamantes in and this made the plain train on my dress sparkle.
I had Andrews grans six pence in my shoe, new – was my dress, borrowed was a blue ribbon wrapped round some lucky heather from my mum.
It will be no surprise that I have a number of favourite pictures! I love the pictures on the jetty’s opposite the Low Wood of myself and Andrew with the mountains etc in the back ground. In addition to this Steve captured two of the most beautiful pictures ever of our children. Hollie had stepped outside for some air and he just snapped a pictures of her – its her face only on a white background and Eve was getting ready sat on the bed and again it is just a picture of her little face looking directly at the camera. Timeless, classic and simple – truly wonderful.
Visiting wedding fairs. I didn’t get too drawn in to what other people were having.

The ceremony, seeing Andrew and our two daughters. Also the singing waiters as we hadn’t told anybody that this was our plan and the started singing between the main and desert. The look on our guests faces. Steve – captured this fantastically.
Absolutely. Our guests have stated that they weren’t even aware that a photographer was present. I much prefer the informal shots than the posed for shots and Steve has captured these amazingly. I would highly recommend Steve and his work.
