COTE HOW | WEDDING story of Sophia & Sam

How did you both meet?

We were set up by my colleague at work and her husband who knew Sam. They were our witnesses at the wedding.

Tell us about the proposal?

Sam proposed on a dog walk which was our old dogs all time favourite place to go

Why a lake district wedding? and what made you choose your venue?

I have holidayed in the lakes with my family every year since I was small and Rydal/Grasmere is our favourite walk. We liked that Cote How catered to small weddings in a gorgeous venue and beautiful setting

What was your colour scheme or wedding theme?

Colour scheme was pretty much non existent as we went for a very colourful and country theme with bright wild flowers by Valerie Anns and tweed suits for the boys

Tell us about your dress?

It was a tea length all lace vintage style dress with a sheer back – paired with 3 different pairs of shoes throughout the day. Fancy lace boot shoes from irregular choice, wellies for photos and glittery pink plimsolls for dancing!

Did you have ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?

Sort of… A borrowed and blue garter, I suppose our outfits were new and my male bridesmaid was my something old!

What was your favourite photograph and why did you like it?

The ‘dead mans drop’ finale of our first dance as it showed how hard we had worked on the dance

What was your most useful source of wedding ideas and information?

Pinterest was good for ideas but as we wanted a simple wedding without many unnecessary trimmings we thought most things up ourselves

Tell us about a supplier who provided a first-class service.

Cutie pie cake company provided us with a delicious and amazing all vegan cake complete with sugar paste models of our 3 dogs on top

Do you have any advice for future brides?

Don’t put stress on details. Put the effort into sorting out the basics like venue, food, photographer, outfits, flowers and cake. What more do you need! And of course do it all your way. We had our dogs attend and all food served was vegan

What was the best part of your wedding day?

Enjoying canapes in the sun and doing our first dance

Was Steve of Derwent Photography the right photographer for you?

Definitely as we have come out with  great photos and Steve incorporated our dogs perfectly
